HENKÔ Experience is an established concept, focused on the development of key Soft Skills through surf and mindfulness experiences both for entrepreneurs and leaders from startups in Accelerators, Corporates and Business Schools.

Last year, we developed a research project during 6 weeks (from 15 May to 30 June), contacting 310 mentors from 31 Accelerators and interviewing 23 mentors from Europe and the US. Based on this research, we found out that 96% of the mentors agree that soft skills are crucial for the success of startups.

This consensus among mentors that the development of soft skills is key in the success of entrepreneurs and startups was accompanied by the acknowledgement that those soft skills are not adequately addressed in current programs. Being an entrepreneur is demanding and most of the people are not sufficiently aware of the hardships and the challenges they will need to face.

On October 6, 2016 we run a pilot program in Viana do Castelo, Portugal to validate our HENKÔ Experience. We invited mentors from well reputed Accelerators such as WAYRA (London), Next Media Accelerator (Munich), Rockstars (Amsterdam), Innovation Royal College of Arts (London) and XTribe (Madrid).

We are now developing new research to study whether entrepreneurs are stressed or not during an Accelerator Program. The following survey is part of that research and consists of 5 simple questions that we would like you to answer if you are an entrepreneur.

The survey will be analyzed by Dr. Sonia Gregorio, a clinical and health psychologist and a researcher at the Cognitive and Behavioural Center for Research and Intervention (CINEICC) at the University of Coimbra (Portugal), R&D Unit financed by the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT). Sónia is also a mindfulness specialist, certified by the Centre for Mindfulness Research and Practice at Bangor University (Wales, UK) and holds a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology centered in the clinical implications of mindfulness.
